Sinopse
Ryouma Echizen, a tennis prodigy, returns to Japan from America at his father's behest, eager to dominate the Japanese tennis world. To achieve his goal of becoming the nation's top tennis player, he joins Seishun Academy, renowned for its exceptional middle school tennis team. Ryouma quickly draws the attention of the team captain and competes for a position on the starting lineup in the school's ranking matches, despite being a freshman. Initially, the Seishun Boys' Tennis Team is hesitant to welcome him due to his age, but his talent and tenacity win them over. With their new "super rookie," Seishun aims to secure a place in the National Tournament and claim the prestigious title. To qualify, they must first navigate the Tokyo Prefectural and Kanto Regional tournaments. However, they face stiff competition from numerous skilled schools, each with their unique playing styles and motivations. To emerge victorious, Ryouma and his teammates must learn to work together and overcome these challenges.
Background
Viz Media launched the first DVD box set in the United States on April 24, 2007. Since January 15, 2008, three more box sets have been made available, but these four sets include only 50 of the total 178 episodes. On April 2, 2021, Funimation acquired the licensing rights to the series and revealed plans for a new dub.
