Synopsis
A millennium after the catastrophic nuclear war known as the "Seven Days of Fire," humanity struggles against a treacherous jungle filled with poisonous spores and enormous insects. The peaceful farming kingdom of the "Valley of the Wind" is disturbed when an airship from the kingdom of Tolmekia crashes, carrying a sinister pulsating object. The Tolmekian military invades the Valley, intending to revive a dangerous weapon from the Seven Days of Fire. Nausicaä, the Valley's charismatic young princess, must stop the Tolmekians and protect her kingdom from the toxic jungle.
Background
Though created before Studio Ghibli's founding, it is often considered a Ghibli work and is usually included in DVD and Blu-ray collections of Ghibli's films. In 1984, the film received the Oufuji Noburou Award at the Mainichi Film Awards. In 1985, it won the Seiun Award for Best Dramatic Presentation and the Best Short Film Award at the Fanta festival.
