Synopsis

After a peaceful period at the Kamiya dojo, Kenshin Himura faces a pivotal moment when his vow to never take a life is severely tested. Following the murder of his former commander, he must return to a path of violence to confront Makoto Shishio, who aspires to overthrow the Meiji government and establish control in Kyoto. Shishio has spent a decade assembling a powerful anti-government force and aims to recruit Aoshi Shinomori, the former leader of the Oniwaban Group. As Kenshin journeys through a village under Shishio's control, he seeks to prevent Japan from descending into civil war. He teams up with his former rival, Hajime Saitou, to challenge Shishio's ambitions in a battle that will shape the nation's future.

Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan - Kyoto Douran aired on Fuji TV's noitaminA block. It was released on Blu-ray and DVD in four volumes from January 29, 2025, to July 30, 2025. The series adapts the Kyoto arc from volume 8 of the Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan manga.
