Synopsis
A music video about a cat named Yume, which also means "dream" in Japanese. The song parodies Der Flohwalzer (known in Japan as Neko Fun Jatta / I Stepped on a Cat) and Beautiful Dreamer (Yumemiru Hito), depending on whether "Yume" is seen as a real cat, a metaphorical dream, or a dream Yume the cat is having. The music video was aired for a month before becoming lost media. In 2016, the Minna no Uta Hakkutsu Project (Minna no Uta Excavation Project) discovered a copy and re-aired the music video after 34 years.
Background
The Minna no Uta Hakkutsu Project, initiated in 2009, aims to archive approximately 500 lost songs from the program due to the loss of master tapes, audio, and film from 1961-1982. Issues like copyright law, the cost of film reels, and overwriting tapes led to this loss, similar to the BBC's missing Doctor Who episodes. By 2016, 220 songs were recovered, with 100 of them being music videos.
