Bao Lian Deng

Based on traditional Chinese folklore, this story follows Chenxiang, a boy whose mother is a goddess and father is mortal. His uncle, Erlang Shen, punishes them by killing the father. The mother escapes and gives birth, but Chenxiang grows up unaware of his ancestry. His mother possesses a magical Lotus Lantern that can scare away evil. When his uncle kidnaps Chenxiang, his mother fights to save him. Unfortunately, Erlang Shen wins, and Chenxiang is forced to live in his palace on the sacred mountains. His mother is imprisoned beneath a mountain for her crimes. Despite his youth, Chenxiang escapes, taking the magical lotus lantern. After surviving adventures with beloved characters of Chinese mythology, Chenxiang matures into a courageous boy who must battle his uncle to free his mother and fall in love.
