Synopsis
This animation is based on rituals filmed during fieldwork in Bali, Indonesia. Among the hundreds of ceremonies known as 'Sangyan' in Bali, the focus is on 'Sangyan Dudari', a ritual for exorcism. Sangyan Dudari involves two premenstrual girls being possessed by Dudari (celestial maiden spirit) and dancing continuously.
