KiyaKiya

The term "KiyaKiya" originates from the old Japanese expression "mune ga kiyakiya suru," which describes an enigmatic, nostalgic, and disturbing feeling, or an impression of "deja-vu." This expression, encountered in Shibusawa Tatsuhiko's book Introductory Essays on Girls, inspired the "KiyaKiya" series. In our daily routines, there are moments when we suddenly feel something is different, as if it holds a kind of reality in our memory. This impression is at the heart of "KiyaKiya" and the related painting and drawing series.
