Synopsis

Jun Tendou, a middle school student, is startled when a peculiar creature leads him to a temple. The head priest, Genun, reveals details about the oni demon Jun had just encountered. Before Jun can process this, Genun transports them both to the Heian period, where Heian-kyo, the ancient city that would become Kyoto, is under frequent oni attacks. The nobles view Jun as their savior, believing his lineage allows him to control the dragon Orochi and defeat the oni. However, Jun is reluctant to use violence and discovers the oni are not as they seem.

Background

Onigamiden received the Excellence Award at the 15th Japan Media Arts Festival in 2011. The film was released on Blu-ray and DVD in North America as Legend of the Millennium Dragon by Sony Pictures Entertainment on October 4, 2011.
