Synopsis
Rennyo played a crucial role in reviving Shin Buddhism in Japan, particularly the Honganji lineage, during a challenging period in the Middle Ages. According to legend, at the age of six, his mother told him of his destiny to restore the Honganji school's fortunes before mysteriously disappearing. Inspired by her words, Rennyo overcame poverty and hardship to spread the teachings across the land.
