Synopsis
Ushio Aotsuki is a headstrong middle school student and son of an eccentric temple priest who dismisses his father's claims about supernatural monsters known as youkai. However, while tending to the temple in his father's absence, Ushio makes a startling discovery: in the basement, he finds a fearsome youkai impaled by the legendary Beast Spear. The creature in question is Tora, notorious for his destructive power, who attempts to persuade Ushio to release him from his five-hundred-year seal. Ushio refuses to trust his words and declines to set him free. But when a sudden youkai outbreak endangers his friends and home, he has no choice but to rely on Tora, with the ancient spear as his only safeguard if he gets out of hand. Ushio and Tora's encounter is just the beginning of their unlikely journey into the depths of the spiritual realm. With the legendary Beast Spear in his hands, Ushio will discover just how real and menacing the world of the supernatural can be.
