Synopsis
Inspired by early chapters of the classic fantasy novel Journey to the West, the story depicts the Monkey King's rebellion against heaven and his fierce battle with Er Lang Shen, the Jade Emperor's nephew who governs the Heaven. The film combines puppet live action, constituting about 30% of the movie, with animated 3D backgrounds and characters. It was nominated for the Asia Pacific Screen Award for Best Animated Feature Film at the 1st Asia Pacific Screen Awards.
