Sinopsis

For young witches worldwide, the renowned Shiny Chariot is the ultimate role model. However, as they grow older, many start to dismiss her influence. Atsuko Kagari, an ordinary girl, remains an ardent admirer of Chariot and enrolls in Luna Nova Magical Academy, aiming to become as captivating as her idol. Yet, the academy proves to be more challenging than Atsuko anticipated, filled with dull lectures, strict teachers, and peers who mock Chariot. Her lack of magical skill earns her a reputation as a rebellious student. When an opportunity arises to prove herself, Atsuko seizes it, facing a rampaging dragon that threatens to destroy the entire academy.

Little Witch Academia is one of the four anime projects that each received 38 million yen (approximately US$480,000) from the "2012 Young Animator Training Project." The animation labor group was granted 214.5 million yen (US$2.65 million) by the Japanese government's Agency for Cultural Affairs, which was then distributed to studios focused on training young animators. The positive reception of the movie led Studio Trigger to launch a Kickstarter campaign for a sequel, which successfully surpassed its funding goal.
