Sinopsis

Ichigo Momomiya is thrilled to start high school and experience her first romance. Her luck seems to change when she meets the popular and handsome Masaya Aoyama, and she quickly develops a crush on him. When Ichigo learns about Aoyama's passion for the environment, she seizes the opportunity to ask him out using tickets to an exhibition about endangered animals. During their date, Ichigo is struck by a mysterious light and faints. She wakes up to find Aoyama unharmed, but they must escape from a giant rat-like creature that has injured him. To save her crush, Ichigo awakens her powers and transforms into a heroine with the skills of a cat. After defeating the monster, researchers Ryou Shirogane and Keiichiro Akasaka explain that Ichigo has been chosen to join the Mew Project: a group of five magical girls whose DNA has been combined with that of certain endangered species. Now, Ichigo must find her teammates to defeat the Chimera Anima—aliens who want to take over the world—before it's too late.

Tokyo Mew Mew New ♡ was produced to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the manga and the 65th anniversary of Kodansha's Nakayoshi magazine. The series was released on Blu-ray and DVD in three volumes from September 21, 2022, to November 16, 2022.
