Synopsis

Sakura Minamoto dreamed of becoming an idol before her untimely death in a traffic accident. Ten years later, she awakens as a zombie in Saga Prefecture with no memory of her past. She meets Koutarou Tatsumi, who reveals he has resurrected her and six other zombie girls to form an idol group and revitalize Saga's economy. Under Koutarou's management, the girls, now known as Franchouchou, struggle to save Saga while hiding their zombie identities and rediscovering their past lives.

Arrière-plan

Zombieland Saga is an original anime produced by Cygames in collaboration with Avex Pictures and dugout, who handle the music and sound respectively. Studio MAPPA is responsible for the animation. Crunchyroll simulcasts the episodes, while Funimation provides the simuldub. Both the opening and ending theme songs, "Adabana Necromancy" and "Hikari e," are performed by Franchouchou. A manga adaptation by Megumu Soramichi (Rakudai Kishi no Cavalry) launched on Cygames' Cycomi website on October 8, 2018. Zombieland Saga won the Animation of the Year award in the Television category at the Tokyo Anime Award Festival in 2019.
