Sinopse

Mal sobrevivendo em um barril após passar por um redemoinho terrível no mar, o descontraído Monkey D. Luffy acaba a bordo de um navio sob ataque de temíveis piratas. Apesar de parecer um adolescente ingênuo, ele não deve ser subestimado. Inigualável em batalha, Luffy é ele mesmo um pirata que persegue resolutamente o tesouro One Piece cobiçado e o título de Rei dos Piratas que vem com ele. O falecido Rei dos Piratas, Gol D. Roger, agitou o mundo antes de sua morte ao revelar o paradeiro de seu tesouro e desafiar todos a obtê-lo. O anime teve uma pausa de 13 de outubro de 2024 a 6 de abril de 2025. O anime mudou para um modelo de lançamento sazonal a partir de 5 de abril de 2026. O horário de exibição era às quartas-feiras, 19:00 entre 20 de outubro de 1999 e março de 2001. O horário de exibição foi alterado para domingos, 19:30 entre abril de 2001 e dezembro de 2004. O horário de exibição foi alterado para domingos, 9:30 entre 6 de outubro de 2006 e 13 de outubro de 2024. O horário de exibição foi novamente alterado para domingos, 23:15 em 6 de abril de 2025. Vários arcos originais do anime foram adaptados em light novels, e a série inspirou mais de 50 jogos de vídeo até 2023. Em junho de 2004, One Piece foi licenciado na América do Norte pela 4Kids Entertainment, que se associou à Viz Media para distribuição em vídeo doméstico. Como One Piece provou ser inadequado para seu público-alvo, a 4Kids Entertainment censurou o show para atender aos seus padrões, e, em dezembro de 2006, eles pararam sua produção.
