Sinopse
Cinco anos após os eventos de Dragon Ball, o especialista em artes marciais Gokuu agora é um homem adulto casado com sua esposa Chi-Chi, com um filho de quatro anos chamado Gohan. Enquanto participa de uma reunião na Ilha da Tartaruga com seus velhos amigos Mestre Roshi, Krillin, Bulma e outros, as festividades são interrompidas quando um alienígena humanoide chamado Raditz não só revela a verdade sobre o passado de Gokuu, mas também sequestra Gohan. Com Raditz exibindo um poder além de qualquer coisa que Gokuu já viu antes, ele é forçado a se unir ao seu antigo rival, Piccolo, para resgatar seu filho. Mas quando Gokuu e Piccolo revelam o segredo das sete Dragon Balls místicas que concedem desejos a Raditz, ele informa ao duo que há mais de sua raça, os Saiyajins, e eles não vão perder uma oportunidade de se apoderar do poder das Dragon Balls para si mesmos. Esses eventos iniciam a saga de Dragon Ball Kai, uma história que encontra Gokuu e seus amigos e familiares defendendo constantemente a galáxia de ameaças cada vez mais poderosas. Personagens bizarros, cômicos, emocionantes e ameaçadores se unem em uma série de batalhas que levam os poderes e habilidades de Gokuu e seus amigos além de qualquer coisa que eles já experimentaram.
Background
Dragon Ball Kai é uma versão editada e condensada de Dragon Ball Z produzida e lançada em 2009 para coincidir com o 20º aniversário da série original. Além de suas novas faixas musicais e dublagem re-gravada, a Toei Animation atualizou os visuais da série para aproveitar as televisões de alta definição. A série concluiu após 98 episódios, enquanto o Dragon Ball Z original levou 194 episódios para chegar ao mesmo ponto. Kai foi continuado em 2014 com o que é considerado sua própria série, Dragon Ball Kai (2014).
