Sinopse

Brilliant high school student Makoto Mizuhara is hard at work on his latest invention for the upcoming school festival, with his closest friend Nanami Jinnai by his side. Nanami’s brother and Makoto’s longtime rival, the cunning student council president Katsuhiko Jinnai, faces criticism for his poor management of the festival preparations and suspects Makoto of scheming to take his place. One evening, while Makoto and Nanami are relaxing with their teacher Masamichi Fujisawa, Jinnai slips into the science lab and tampers with Makoto’s device, which unexpectedly creates a portal that transports all four of them to a different world! As soon as they arrive, Makoto is besieged by a swarm of enormous insect-like creatures. Fleeing from them, he stumbles upon Fujisawa and a young woman named Rune Venus. After Fujisawa repels the monsters, a delegation of nobles appears, searching for Rune, their princess. They reveal to Makoto and Fujisawa that they are now in El-Hazard and escort them to the palace of Roshtaria, their kingdom. Despite the skepticism of her advisors, Rune welcomes them as honored guests and quickly forms a bond with Makoto. Oblivious to the fact that Nanami and Jinnai are also in this world, Makoto begins working on a way to return home.
