Sinopse
No ano de 2005, uma raça de monstros alienígenas chamados Zonders emerge de subterrâneo e lançam uma série de ataques na cidade de Tóquio. A única defesa contra essas criaturas é a agência secreta conhecida como Gutsy Geoid Guard (ou 3G) e sua arma definitiva, o incrível robô gigante GaoGaiGar. O piloto de GaoGaiGar, Guy Shishio, é um ex-astronauta que quase morreu dois anos antes quando os Zonders primeiro caíram na Terra. A vida de Guy foi poupada quando um misterioso robô leão chamado Galeon o puxou da nave espacial em chamas e o trouxe de volta à Terra. O pai de Guy, Leo, então usou a tecnologia de Galeon para reconstruir seu filho despedaçado como um ciborgue, na esperança de que ele pudesse parar os alienígenas quando eles aparecessem. Agora, com Galeon como seu núcleo, GaoGaiGar luta para proteger a Terra. Ele é ajudado por uma equipe de robôs transformáveis e por um jovem chamado Mamoru, que tem o poder de purificar os núcleos dos Zonders e parece estar conectado ao misterioso Galeon.
