Synopsis

A century ago, the immortal realm was in chaos, gods fell, and the mysterious "Book of Life and Death" entered the world. During an expedition, young archaeologist Lu Yun accidentally discovered an unidentifiable burial chamber, disrupting his peaceful life and setting him on a thrilling quest for various secrets. Dragged into the Immortal Realm by the Book of Heaven, Lu Yun was appointed as the Langxie Tian Xuanzhou Prefecture Shepherd of Xuanzhou City. Upon arrival, he faced his first challenge: his term was ending, and powerful families sought the position. To retain his role, Lu Yun, who couldn't cultivate, infiltrated the Xuanchi Mountain tomb with his female envoy to find the Jiuqiao Jindan, a pill that could transform his physique. To evade enemies, they ventured deep into the tomb, encountering a thousand-year-old corpse monster, swarms of corpse flies, and a mysterious Shi Ling queen hidden in a fragrant boudoir. Using the power of the Book of Life and Death, Lu Yun discovered that the woman in the portrait was Dan Xian Yuying, the last Xuanzhou prefectural shepherd and the first messenger of reincarnation recorded in the Book of Heaven. With Danxian's help, Lu Yun successfully changed his physique and temporarily secured his position through negotiations with Emperor Langxie, believing the matter was resolved. However, Lu Yun began experiencing fragmented dreams that weren't his own. One night, he witnessed the heavenly book in his sleeping body vibrating wildly, surrounded by nine dragons carrying coffins. To unravel the mystery of the Book of Heaven, Lu Yun traveled to Xuanshui City, near the Xuanhe River, following clues from the book. There, he found a young child hidden in a dark room, placed in a wooden box covered with thick cotton. To save the child, Lu Yun dove into the Xuanhe River, only to encounter the devastated Xuanhe Water Palace, now occupied by Gandalf monsters. Before they could escape, they were attacked by the demonized Xuanhe River God. To save his companion Qinghan, Lu Yun used the Floating Life Map as a weapon and unleashed the power of the Book of Life and Death within him, defeating the River God and gaining a new skill. With this victory, Lu Yun conquered the fourth messenger of reincarnation, each representing the strongest in different aspects such as Talisman Dao, Martial Dao, Formation, and Refining. As he edges closer to the truth of the scripture, even if he becomes an enemy of heaven and earth, the world will stand by his side. Meanwhile, the curse king on the Jiuzhongtian smirked, "Hmph, ants who overestimate their power..."
