Sinopsis

In a world covered by an endless sea of sand, there sails an island known as the Mud Whale. Inside this island lies an ancient town where most inhabitants are "Marked," a trait that grants them supernatural abilities but also leads to an early death. Chakuro, the village archivist, spends his time documenting newfound islands. During an expedition, he discovers a girl who will change his destiny and the world inside the Mud Whale.
