Synopsis

Satomi Amano, a model student and daughter of a leading AI technology project manager, feels isolated from her classmates due to her status. One day, she discovers her mother's new AI project, which aims to prove that robots can coexist with humans. At school, Satomi meets Shion Ashimori, the AI tasked with fitting in as a normal teenage girl. Shion, however, has her own goal: to make Satomi happy through her singing talent and to compose melodies that connect her with new friends and heal Satomi's heart.

Arrière-plan

Ai no Utagoe wo Kikasete won the Audience Award at the Scotland Loves Animation Film Festival in October 2021. The movie was also awarded Best Animation Film at the 2021 New York City Film & Television Festival. In 2022, the film was nominated for the Best Animated Feature Film Award at the 45th Japan Academy Film Prize. The film was co-produced by Funimation.
