Synopsis
Abandoned by her mother as a child, Aoi Tsubaki has always had the ability to see 'ayakashi'—spirits from the Hidden Realm. Her grandfather, Shirou Tsubaki, who shared this ability, took her in and taught her how to coexist peacefully with the ayakashi. When her grandfather suddenly passes away, independent Aoi must continue her college career, relying solely on her cooking skills to protect herself from the human-eating spirits. She feeds the hungry ayakashi that cross her path to ensure they don't turn to her or other unsuspecting humans for food. After offering her lunch to a mysterious ayakashi, Aoi is transported to the Hidden Realm, where the ayakashi reveals himself to be Oodanna, the 'Master Innkeeper,' an ogre-god. There, she learns that she was used as collateral for her grandfather's debt of one hundred million yen and must marry Oodanna to settle the debt. Aoi refuses and decides to pay off the debt herself by opening an eatery at Oodanna's inn. Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi follows Aoi's journey as she changes and impacts the lives of the ayakashi through her delicious cooking.
