Synopsis
Long ago, in the village of Ikuta, a beautiful young woman named Unai-Otome was torn between two suitors. In her despair, she chose a third option—taking her own life. Even in death, she found no peace. Many decades later, a pilgrim walking by her grave encounters a beautiful young woman, and her story resurfaces from the depths of time. Based on a classic Noh theatre play, the film explores the absurdity of the human condition through Kawamoto’s masterful animation.
