Synopsis
Long ago, the birds and the beasts engaged in a terrible war. The clever bats would side with the birds when they were winning, and then switch allegiances to the beasts when they gained the upper hand. When the war ended and a great party of friendship was held, the bats' fence-straddling tactics were exposed, and everyone refused to associate with them. Since then, the bats have been too ashamed to show their faces during the day, coming out only at night to flit silently around.
