Synopsis

During the last years of the Bakumatsu period, there existed a famed assassin called Hitokiri Battousai. Known for his ruthlessness, he was unbeaten across the land, yet he vanished mysteriously at the height of the Japanese Revolution. A decade of peace has passed, but the mere mention of Battousai still instills fear in the hearts of former soldiers. Unknown to them, Battousai has left his violent past behind, seeking redemption for his sins. Now, he lives as Kenshin Himura, a wandering swordsman with a joyful demeanor and unwavering resolve. Having sworn never to take a life again, Kenshin devotes himself to safeguarding the helpless. One day, he encounters Kaoru Kamiya at her kendo school, which is under threat from an impostor claiming to be Battousai. After Kenshin aids her, Kaoru permits him to stay at the dojo, and the former assassin pauses his journey. Rurouni Kenshin: Meiji Kenkaku Romantan recounts Kenshin's tale as he endeavors to rescue those in need. Yet, as foes from both his past and present surface, can the reformed assassin maintain his new principles?
