Sinossi
A country doctor recounts a frantic nighttime call to tend to a young patient. As events unfold, they take on a surreal quality with "unearthly horses" transporting him instantly to the bedside. The doctor, distracted by personal issues and resentments towards those he is meant to care for, fails to discover a vile, fatal wound. Humiliated by the villagers, who "always expect the impossible from the doctor," he is doomed to an endless return trip, losing everything.
Sfondo
The film is a direct interpretation of Franz Kafka's short story A Country Doctor. The film has garnered several awards, including the 2008 Oufuji Noburou Award from the Mainichi Film Concours and the 2007 Grand Prize at the Ottawa International Animation Festival.
