Synopsis
Following a devastating earthquake, Tokyo is swiftly rebuilt using humanoid robots called boomers, created by Genom Corporation. These machines, initially designed for labor, start malfunctioning and going on violent rampages. The city forms the Advanced Police to combat these rogue boomers, while rumors circulate about a secret vigilante group, the Knight Sabers. Linna Yamazaki, an adventurous young woman, travels to Tokyo to investigate the Knight Sabers and encounters Priscilla Asagiri, Sylia Stingray, and Nene Romanova. As the girls unite, they discover that the boomer problem runs deeper than anyone imagined.
Background
Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 was initially released on DVD by ADV Films from September 12, 2000, to June 5, 2001. Funimation Entertainment later reissued the series in the same format on November 29, 2011.
