Synopsis

A Happian, a creature resembling a squid, departs from his home planet with the ambition to spread joy throughout the cosmos. Upon landing on Earth, he quickly finds himself in peril of being captured by its inhabitants. Fortunately, he is discovered by Shizuka Kuze, a young girl with a somber demeanor, who provides him with sustenance and names him Takopii. Grateful for her kindness, Takopii is determined to bring a smile to her face. However, the task proves to be more challenging than anticipated. Shizuka faces bullying from her peers, lacks a father figure, and her mother is frequently absent—though these issues are lost on the naive Takopii. Despite this, Shizuka finds solace in her dog, Chappy, which only strengthens Takopii's resolve to make her happy. As Takopii's efforts to lift Shizuka's spirits lead to unexpected outcomes, he remains steadfast in his mission. He is determined to take matters into his own tentacles, deepen his understanding of humans, and ultimately achieve his goal of spreading happiness.
