Synopsis

Following his parents' divorce, seven-year-old Koyomi Hidaka decides to live with his father, a researcher at the Japanese Institute of Virtual Science. There, he meets Shiori Satou, the daughter of another divorced researcher. The two become close friends and spend much of their childhood together. As they grow older, they plan to marry in the future. However, their plans are disrupted when their parents decide to marry each other, making them step-siblings. Refusing to accept this new reality, Koyomi and Shiori use their parents' research to escape to a parallel world to start their lives anew together, only to face repercussions that threaten the futures they strove for.
